Royal Statistical Society - In Silico Trials

Royal Statistical Society - In Silico Trials, 15 Sept 2021.
Prof Alex Frangi will speak about in silico trials, where simulation meets trial design to test what couldn't otherwise be tested.

In Silico Trials
Alex Frangi & Lucy Godson at Hear Me Out - Pint of Science UK, 19 May 2021.
Hear ye hear ye! People are as unique as their music tastes, and we’re increasingly using bespoke healthcare rather than one-size approaches. How has this led to hearing aid tech being developed to improve the lives of individuals with hearing loss? After the past year, it might feel like people only exist in the virtual world, but could we test new medicines on virtual patients instead of humans? Join researchers from the University of Leeds who will outline the ways in which technology is being used to advance healthcare and discuss the role it may play in the future. .

Alex Frangi: Unlocking In-silico clinical trials, 14 Sept 2021.
Professor Alex Frangi is Diamond Jubilee Chair in Computational Medicine and Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies at the University of Leeds, Leeds, UK, with joint appointments at the School of Computing and the School of Medicine. He directs the CISTIB Center for Computational Imaging and Simulation Technologies in Biomedicine. In this episode, we discuss computational medicine, the promises of in-silico trials and his new paper In-silico trial of intracranial flow diverters replicates and expands insights from conventional clinical trials.

Sheffield Festival of Science, April 2017.
In April 2017 CISTIB visited The Sheffield College and The Oak Tree High School as part of the Sheffield Festival of Science & Engineering. Students had the opportunity to listen to interesting talks about "Technologies That Will Transform Healthcare in the Next 10 Years" and to try out different hands-on demonstrations related to virtual reality in surgery and flow simulation in aneurysms.

Outreach

OUTREACH
Outreach is an integral part of modern science, communicating what we do and why we do it to the community and the wider world. We are committed to this both here in Leeds, and through links with institutes and groups around the world. We are proud to support the engagement of students to raise the profile of science, technology and mathematics. If you wish to ask us a question or arrange for us to visit you or an event, please contact us.
