GIMIAS

Graphical Interface for Medical Image Analysis and Simulation

GIMIAS is a workflow-oriented environment for advanced biomedical image computing and physiological modelling. It is an open source software framework designed for the efficient development clinical prototypes. This facilitates the transfer of technology to clinical research settings and to industry. GIMIAS integrates tools from medical imaging, computational modelling and computer graphics. Typical applications of GIMIAS are in the field of multi-modal image visualization and processing, personalised model creation, physiological modelling and simulation post-processing.

AngioLab Suite

Graphical interface for image-based intracranial aneurism assessment

The AngioLab suite developed in GIMIAS is designed to support the interventional neuroradiologist in the planning of intracranial aneurysm treatment with minimally invasive techniques. It includes modules for:

  • Automatic aneurysm quantification, in terms of shape and volume, from the patient's images, for the selection of the best treatment options
  • Aneurysm virtual treatment for procedure optimisation (coil embolization, stenting, flow diversion)
  • Computed fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for a deeper understanding of treatment efficacy

CardioLab Suite

Graphical interface for cardiac image analysis and modelling

The CardioLab suite developed in GIMIAS is designed to support cardiologists and interventional electrophysiologists to assess the cardiac function and plan the treatment of arrhythmias. This includes:

  • Diagnosis and characterization of cardiac diseases through quantitative assessment of cardiac shape and function
  • Identification and quantification of myocardial scars
  • Optimization of pacemaker configuration and leads positioning for Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) planning
