Dr. Arezoo Zakeri received her B.Sc. In Electrical Engineering from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran. In 2009, she moved to Tehran to start M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Dr. Abbas Erfanian Omidvar. She worked on HRV signal processing using joint time-frequency analysis and implementation of adaptive optimal kernel time frequency analysis in ischemic subjects during autonomic tests. Arezoo continued her educations for Ph.D. at Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran in 2011. She worked with Dr. Mohammad Hossein Miran Baygi on optical polarization characterization of biological tissues specially pigmented skin lesions. In her Ph.D. thesis she designed and manufactured a prototype semi-automated Mueller matrix imaging system to acquire polarization image maps of tissue samples and developed mathematical models for interpretation of polarization properties in turbid media.

She employed as a faculty member of Biomedical Engineering at Islamic Azad University, Aliabad Katoul Branch, Iran in 2012. In 2016, she proposed a software package supplementing dermoscopy for the early detection of cancerous pigmented skin lesions under the research contract funded by Islamic Azad University. In 2018, she received another fund from Islamic Azad University to develop a novel meta-heuristic optimization-based method for feature selection.

In November 2019 she joined the Centre for Computational Imaging and Simulation Technologies in Biomedicine (CISTIB) at the University of Leeds, the UK as the postdoc research fellow under the supervision of Dr Ali Gooya and Prof. Alejandro Frangi. Her current research develops models of deep learning that applies to the construction of the probabilistic atlas of joint cardiac motion and patient metadata.
