Dr Ali Sarrami-Foroushani received his B. Sc. in Chemical Engineering in Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Iran. In 2011, he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he started his M. Sc. in Computational Mechanics offered by Erasmus Mundus in Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). In 2012, he moved back to Iran and continued his M. Sc. research work on Image-based Computational Modelling of Blood Flow in Intracranial Aneurysms in the department of Chemical Engineering, IUT, and in collaboration with Prof. Frangi's research group (CISTIB) and Quantitative MR Imaging and Spectroscopy Group (QMISG) in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Iran. Ali worked with Quantitative MR Imaging and Spectroscopy Group (QMISG) in TUMS where he carried out research on velocity and pressure mapping in intracranial arteries using Time-resolved 3D Phase-Contrast MR Imaging (4D PC MRI).  

In 2014, he joined the Centre for Computational Imaging and Simulation Technologies in Biomedicine (CISTIB) at The University of Sheffield,  as a research assistant and began his PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Alejandro Frangi and Dr Toni Lassila. In CISTIB, Ali continued working on computational simulation of blood flow in cerebral aneurysms. Through his work, he has gained interest and expertise in computational fluid dynamics, statistical data analysis, uncertainty quantification in cardiovascular flow simulations, and medical device and thrombosis modelling. He received his PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from The University of Sheffield, UK, in 2019.
