My research is in the area of medical X-ray imaging, focussing on the assessment of image quality and the optimisation of image quality with respect to radiation dose. I also have interests in image analysis and am currently investigating methods of quantifying blood flow within the heart from X-ray angiography.
I am the Programme Lead for the MSc Medical Imaging course.
Module leader for MEDP5331: Medical X-ray Imaging & MEDP5333: Computer Programming with MATLAB.
Widening Participation: Careers Academy mentor at Garforth Academy for students in years 12 and 13.
Research interests
I am PI for the Leeds contribution to the EU funded PANORAMA project, investigating next-generation intelligent imaging devices in the medical, broadcast and surveillance areas. Our specific interest is to investigate new designs of X-ray dose control systems. I have a long-standing research collaboration with Philips Healthcare in the area of cardiovascular imaging.
