Biography

Dong Ni joined the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shenzhen University in April 2010 as an assistant professor and was appointed associate professor and professor in 2012 and 2017. He is currently the associate dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering. He serves as the local organizing chair of MICCAI 2019, Shenzhen. Dr Ni received his BSc and MSc degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Southeast University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He received his PhD degree in Computer Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from November 2009 to April 2010. Dr Ni's research interests include medical ultrasound image analysis, machine learning, and virtual reality. He created the MUSIC (Medical UltraSound Image Computing) Lab at Shenzhen University and leads the active research team of more than 30 students and research fellows, focusing specifically on intelligent medical ultrasound.
Currently, the MUSIC lab has >30 members, including five staff members, six postdocs and 30 graduate students. Our lab is world leader in the following research areas: ultrasound image analysis; multi-modality image registration; breast cancer detection in ABUS. Research in my lab has been continuously supported by two regular grants from the National Natural Science Foundation in China (NSFC) and four Shenzhen Basic Research grants since 2010. I serve as the local chair of the 22ndInternational Conference On Medical Image Computing & Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2019). I have published >60 papers in peer-reviewed professional journals and have presented at leading conferences. I am currently mentoring three postdoctoral fellows, one PhD candidate and 10 MSc candidates.
